System Performance Engineer - Ethernet Hardware & Software

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated System Performance Engineer to drive end-to-end performance characterization, and optimization of Ethernet processing solutions across hardware, firmware, software, and system-level architectures. The role requires expertise in Ethernet networking, packet processing, performance benchmarking, and root-cause analysis to ensure industry-leading throughput, latency, and scalability.

The engineer will work closely with architects, hardware designers, firmware developers, driver teams, and performance architects to identify performance bottlenecks, develop optimization strategies, and deliver high-performance Ethernet solutions for data center, and edge networking applications.

Key Qualification & Responsibilities

Bachelors or masters in computer science or electronics with at least 2+ years of industry or research experience.

Performance Analysis & Optimization

• Define and execute performance validation strategies for Ethernet hardware and software subsystems.
• Characterize system performance including:
• Throughput
• Packet processing rate (PPS)
• Latency and jitter
• Buffer utilization
• CPU and memory efficiency
• Analyze packet processing pipelines and identify performance bottlenecks in hardware, drivers, and software stacks.
• Develop methodologies to optimize Ethernet datapath performance across varying traffic patterns and workloads.

Hardware Performance Engineering

• Evaluate performance of Ethernet MAC, PHY, switch, NIC, and packet processing hardware.
• Analyze bus utilization, DMA performance, memory bandwidth, cache efficiency, and hardware acceleration engines.
• Performance characterization of pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms.
