Director – Cost Engineering (Plastics)

Summary

This senior executive role is pivotal in driving financial efficiency and strategic cost management within the plastics manufacturing sector. The successful candidate will lead comprehensive cost engineering initiatives, overseeing the entire lifecycle of product costing from design through to production. Responsibilities

• Develop and execute advanced cost engineering frameworks tailored to the plastics industry, ensuring accuracy in financial projections and budgeting.
• Direct cost analysis for diverse manufacturing processes, including injection, compression, transfer, blow molding, rotational molding, and vacuum forming.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of sophisticated tool costing models and manufacturing cost structures to optimize resource allocation.
• Spearhead Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) programs to identify opportunities for material cost reduction and process efficiency without compromising quality.
• Oversee the selection and optimization of plastic materials, balancing performance requirements with cost constraints.
• Manage and mentor high-performing teams, fostering collaboration between engineering, production, and finance departments.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate cost strategies, negotiate supplier terms, and drive cross-functional cost reduction projects.
• Monitor market trends and raw material pricing to proactively adjust costing models and maintain competitive advantage.

Requirements

Extensive professional background of 20 to 25 years specifically within cost engineering or financial management in the plastics and polymer industry. Proven mastery of cost engineering principles and plastic costing methodologies across a wide range of molding technologies. In-depth technical knowledge of plastic materials, manufacturing processes, and the associated cost drivers for each. Demonstrated expertise in developing complex cost models, tooling cost estimations, and manufacturing cost analysis. Strong track record in implementing Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) to achieve significant cost savings and structural optimization. Exceptional leadership capabilities with a history of managing large teams and influencing senior stakeholders. Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable strategic insights for executive decision-making. Compensation package aligned with market standards for this level of seniority, ranging from ₹30+ LPA.
