The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Director, Cloud Delivery Assurance to build and lead our new Cloud Delivery Assurance (CDA) team in Bangalore or Pune, India, reporting to the SVP, Platform Engineering.
In this pivotal role, you will make release readiness a defensible, engineering-owned decision. You will stand up a brand-new team of automation and delivery-assurance engineers, define the plan that takes us from today’s manual, inconsistent release checks to a fully automated artifact promotion pipeline, and own the quality gates that govern promotion of SaaS software from development clusters to integration and staging clusters, and into production. Collaborating closely with Solutions QA, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, application, and platform teams, you will deliver the integration quality, automation, and production-readiness operating model that sits above our platform and application layers — proving the combined system is production-ready before customers ever see it. CDA raises the floor for everyone: trusted environments, shared tooling, and enforced release-readiness gates. It complements Solutions QA (product and solution correctness), DevOps (CI/CD tooling and realm build automation), and SRE (production reliability, scale, HA/DR, and chaos testing) — and owns none of their charters.
You are the ideal candidate if you have built quality and delivery-assurance organizations from the ground up, are fluent in Kubernetes-based cloud platforms and CI/CD, and are comfortable being the person who says “not yet” when the evidence does not support a release.
Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do
- Build the plan, roadmap, and staffing model that delivers the CDA target-state operating model, and secure alignment on scope, milestones, and investment with the SVP, Platform Engineering and peer engineering leaders
- Hire, lead, coach, and develop the CDA team — one technical project manager and eight software development engineers in test across grades E-06 and E-07 — and establish the team’s charter, operating cadence, and engineering standards
- Own the automated artifact promotion pipeline end to end — CI build and security scan validation, dev-cluster smoke validation, integration and certification runs on protected clusters, and staging certification prior to production
- Define, implement, and enforce the quality gates that govern each promotion decision, including entry and exit criteria, required evidence, hold-and-return behavior on failure, and rollback expectations
- Serve as the accountable approver for promotion of SaaS software from dev clusters to integration and staging clusters and into production, and make go/no-go and risk-acceptance recommendations defensible with data
- Establish the common test-automation framework, shared libraries, and test environments wired into CI/CD and the release gate, and drive AI-assisted development and AI-generated test coverage to accelerate delivery
- Deliver command-and-control reporting — readiness scorecards, quality and risk heatmaps, coverage and escape-rate metrics, and environment and release status visible to engineering leadership
- Partner with Solutions QA on end-to-end functional coverage and release sign-off, and with SRE on stress, scale, HA validation, DR, and chaos testing so system-level results feed the promotion decision
- Drive dev and QA cluster stability with DevOps and CloudOps — clear environment semantics from laptop to dev to integration to staging to production, a clean reference dev cluster, and a protected certification tier
- Internal Own the feedback and remediation loop, routing defects and risks to the accountable platform, application, or infrastructure team and tracking them to closure
- Manage budget, headcount, vendor, and tooling decisions for the function, and report progress, risks, and quality outcomes to executive stakeholders
Be Prepared — What You Bring
- Fifteen or more years of software engineering, quality engineering, or delivery-assurance experience, including five or more years leading and growing engineering or QA teams, ideally with distributed or multi-site teams
- Proven record of defining and delivering a quality and automation strategy for a cloud-native SaaS platform, including ownership of release-readiness or release-gate decisions
- Deep hands-on understanding of Kubernetes, Linux, containers, and public cloud environments such as AWS or GCP, and of the distributed systems and microservices that run on them
- Strong command of CI/CD tooling and practices — pipeline design, artifact promotion, progressive delivery, canary and deployment verification, and gate automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo, or Spinnaker
- Expertise in test-automation architecture across API, integration, end-to-end, regression, and performance testing, with the technical depth to review designs and code
- Experience applying AI-assisted development and AI-generated test coverage to raise engineering throughput and quality
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across QA, SRE, DevOps, product, and application teams, and to hold a quality bar under delivery pressure
- Track record of building metrics-driven programs — coverage, escape rate, defect trends, mean time to detect — and reporting them credibly to executives
- Experience hiring and scaling engineering teams in India, and building an inclusive, high-accountability culture
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is a plus
