Deputy manager - mechanical (turbine)

RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT EXECUTION

• Execute erection, installation, testing, and commissioning activities of Steam Turbine Generator (STG) systems and associated auxiliaries.
• Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to approved project schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders for seamless project execution.
• Ensure timely closure of project punch points and commissioning observations.

TURBINE & TG PACKAGE MANAGEMENT

• Supervise erection and alignment of turbine, generator, condensers, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and associated equipment.
• Review technical drawings, layouts, erection methodologies, and commissioning procedures.
• Monitor turbine rotor installation, bearing alignment, coupling alignment, and balance of plant interfaces.
• Ensure compliance with OEM guidelines during erection and commissioning activities.

COMMISSIONING & TESTING

• Coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of turbine systems.
• Monitor flushing, hydraulic tests, steam blowing, rolling, synchronization, and performance testing activities.
• Support trial operation and performance guarantee tests.
• Ensure achievement of design parameters during commissioning.

CONTRACTOR & VENDOR MANAGEMENT

• Coordinate with contractors for manpower deployment and execution of project activities.
• Monitor contractor performance and productivity.
• Validate work completion and support certification of executed jobs.
• Ensure project deliverables meet contractual and technical specifications.

PLANNING & COORDINATION

• Track project schedules, material availability, and resource utilization.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, Civil, Electrical, and C&I teams for timely project execution.
• Identify project risks and recommend mitigation measures.
• Support preparation of progress reports and management reviews.

QUALITY ASSURANCE & COMPLIANCE

• Ensure adherence to quality standards, approved drawings, and project specifications.
• Conduct inspections and witness testing activities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and project safety requirements.
• Participate in audits and quality assurance reviews.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT

• Ensure implementation of HSE practices and permit-to-work systems during execution.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections at project sites.
• Drive a zero-incident culture during erection and commissioning activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Thermal Power Plant Projects with exposure to Turbine Generator (TG) erection, installation, commissioning, and project execution.
• Experience in supercritical and ultra-supercritical thermal power projects will be preferred.
• Hands-on experience in coordination with OEMs such as BHEL, GE, Siemens, Toshiba, Doosan, or equivalent.
• Exposure to large-scale greenfield or brownfield power plant expansion projects.
