Senior data engineer

What

We are looking for a senior data engineer who is excited about shaping a global, scalable product called minka ledger. High throughput of thousands of messages per second, effective data management, resilience, flexibility, and extensibility are some of the key topics you will deal with. We are building developer-focused deep tech tools and you will work closely with an experienced engineering team led by our CTO, Zeljko Rumenjak. We value highly motivated, somewhat crazy, and creative individuals. We are selective and take care of our dream team, so you will be well compensated.

Be an owner

• Responsible for end-to-end data platform processes: collecting, storing, processing and analysing huge data sets
• Own, maintain and plan improvements of the data platform infrastructure.
• Participate in agile product development process, ensure features are prioritized accurately and releases are delivered on time.
• Work alongside quality assurance to deliver a high quality product.
• Investigate and recommend new technologies or products to improve data platform system performance, reliability and costs.

Be a solver

• Design and implement data structures to enable efficient analytics and reporting.
• Build reliable and efficient ETL pipelines for data sync from various data sources.
• Deep dive in data and find relevant insights and reports
• Build and managing data products with OLTP and OLAP databases
• Work on identifying relevant data sources for business needs, sourcing missing data, and enhancing the data collection process in general.

Be a team player

• Collaborate with the Product team and other stakeholders to design and plan new features.
• Prepare and participate in release planning by partnering with Product and QA teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
• Make decisions adapting to unplanned obstacles to maximize consistency with product roadmap and customer priorities provided by product managers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering
• Degree in STEM related area (eg. computer science, electronic engineering, mathematics, physics)
• Mandatory: Experience with commercial cloud-based solutions (eg. GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle)
• Mandatory: Experience working with large and/or complex datasets
• Experience using cloud pipeline architectures (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
• Experience working with OLTP databases (PostgreSQL prefered)
• Good level of SQL skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communicator; able to convey ideas clearly to a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to learn new systems and work with global technology team

Preferred skills

• Experience in financial services or fintech
• Experience with programming languages (Javascript, Java, Python, etc.)
• Experience building stream-processing systems (using messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ).
