Transport Supervisor – Nights

Ready to take the wheel on nights? We’re looking for an experienced and driven Transport Supervisor to join our team at our Swindon Depot. As a Nights Transport Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in keeping our transport operation moving safely, efficiently and on time. Working alongside the Transport and Compliance Managers, you’ll lead and support our driver teams, making sure every shift gets off to the right start and finishes safely.

About the role

This is a night-based role, with start and finish times varying depending on operational volumes. Core hours are typically 11pm – 8am. You’ll support the Transport Manager throughout the night, helping to ensure our vehicles, drivers and transport operation are ready to deliver an excellent service to our customers.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Ensuring all drivers and transport workers are compliant with relevant legal and legislative requirements.
• Conducting effective driver briefings and debriefings, ensuring allocated routes and instructions are clearly understood and followed.
• Reviewing daily vehicle check sheets with drivers and ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
• Making sure vehicle defects are appropriately reported and resolved, with all accidents and damage recorded.
• Ensuring all new FTE and Agency drivers are licence checked, assessed and fully inducted before their first shift.
• Downloading and reviewing information from digital tachographs at the start and end of each shift.
• Monitoring vehicle maintenance, service schedules and VOR activity to ensure vehicles are fit and available for the road.
• Carrying out key Health & Safety activities, including yard walks and vehicle checks.
• Working closely with the wider transport team to identify issues, solve problems and keep the night operation running smoothly.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring experience within a transport or logistics environment, along with the confidence to support drivers and make decisions in a fast-moving operation. We’re particularly interested in people who have:

• Experience collating and managing driver information, including digital tachograph data.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements for both sites and drivers.
• Experience of route optimisation and problem solving.
• Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) such as Isotrak, Tachomaster, Ortec or equivalent.
• Strong IT skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
