Product development project manager

As we strengthen our R&D organization with clearer ownership, deeper functional excellence and stronger cross-functional collaboration, we are looking for an experienced Product Development Project Manager to help shape the next generation of Coloplast solutions. Join Product Development in R&D You will become part of Product Development within R&D, where mechanical engineering, materials science, systems engineering, test engineering, usability and design collaborate closely across disciplines. As Product Development Project Manager, you will lead the Product Development workstream within one or more cross-functional development projects or programs. You will translate the agreed project scope into an executable Product Development plan and lead the team in delivering high-quality technical outcomes. You will represent Product Development in the wider project or program organization and collaborate closely with the overall Project Manager or Program Manager, Product Development line managers, Manufacturing Development, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical and Operations.

Your key responsibilities You will be responsible for creating clarity, structure and momentum across the Product Development workstream.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the Product Development workstream from early development through design verification, design transfer and launch readiness.
• Translate the agreed project scope into clear Product Development deliverables, milestones, dependencies and decision points.
• Establish and maintain the Product Development workstream plan and integrate it with the overall project plan.
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary team spanning relevant Product Development disciplines.
• Create clear ownership of deliverables and actively manage workstream risks, issues and critical dependencies.
• Drive timely decisions within the Product Development mandate, making technical recommendations, assumptions and trade-offs visible.
• Ensure that Product Development deliverables are completed at the required level of quality and maturity, including relevant product concepts, designs, requirements, specifications, verification evidence and Design Control documentation.
• Partner closely with Manufacturing Development to integrate product design, Design for Manufacturing and manufacturing-readiness activities from the outset.
• Forecast resource and OPEX needs, align capacity with Product Development line managers and make resource constraints and consequences transparent.
• Communicate progress, risks, decisions and recommendations clearly to the project or program organization and other relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to strengthening project-management excellence and ways of working across Product Development.

What you bring You are a structured and curious project leader who combines disciplined execution with sound judgement and strong collaborative skills. You do not need to have every technical answer yourself, but you must be able to ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions constructively and help multidisciplinary teams reach well-founded decisions. You are comfortable working with uncertainty while maintaining clarity, accountability and momentum.

We expect that you have:

• At least five years of experience leading technical or product-development projects in an R&D environment.
• A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, design, innovation or another relevant technical discipline.
• Demonstrated experience leading a technical workstream or multidisciplinary development team.
• Experience taking products or technical solutions through concept development, detailed development, verification and transfer into manufacturing.
• Strong capabilities in project planning, risk management, dependency management and stakeholder communication.
• The ability to make and communicate trade-offs across product performance, quality, manufacturability, sustainability, time and cost.
• The ability to distinguish between decisions that can be made within the team’s mandate and issues that require broader alignment or escalation.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Experience from medical devices, pharmaceuticals or another regulated industry is strongly preferred. Experience with Design Control, product verification or manufacturing transfer will be considered an advantage.
