Job Description

Introduction to the job

At our Berlin site, our employees manufacture key components for ASML lithography systems. As part of our precision manufacturing team, you support the production of optical components, assemblies, and systems made of glass, glass-ceramics, and ceramics for our high-tech small-batch, single-part, and prototype production.

This position is based in Berlin, operates in a three-shift model, and is initially offered on a fixed-term contract for one year.

Role and responsibilities

  • Monitor manufacturing processes through routine measurements and standardized machine releases following maintenance and repair activities.
  • Analyze technical disturbances, collect relevant data, support root cause investigations, and contribute to sustainable corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, and Product Engineering to resolve production issues and improve process stability.
  • Support the development, implementation, and compliance of manufacturing standards, work instructions, process controls, and 5S practices.
  • Execute evaluations, technical analyses, reports, and experimental test activities to support process optimization and decision-making.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to productivity, quality, safety, and cost improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
  • Operate and support manufacturing equipment within the 4D metrology area and provide technical guidance to production teams during ongoing disturbances.

Education and experience

  • State-certified Technician qualification or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Experience in a technical manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies and continuous improvement principles such as PDCA, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, SMED, or Poka-Yoke.
  • Experience working with manufacturing systems and standard business software, including SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and interpret measurement results in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.
  • Experience working with technical documentation, manufacturing standards, and process controls.

Skills

Working in a highly precise manufacturing environment requires consistent decision-making, close collaboration, and a strong focus on quality. To succeed in this role, the following skills are important:

  • Ability to remain focused and make sound decisions when managing multiple priorities and production disturbances.
  • Structured and analytical approach when evaluating technical data and identifying the causes of complex issues.
  • Clear communication skills when working with operators, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for quality, safety, and operational performance.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities, shifting production demands, and evolving business needs.
  • Collaborative mindset that supports knowledge sharing and constructive teamwork across different functions.
  • Attention to detail and discipline when following procedures, documenting findings, and maintaining high standards.
