As an Engineering Manager, you will be leading a cross-functional team of software, hardware, and firmware teams in the development of IDT Real-Time Location Systems in Brno. You will lead and mentor highly technical engineers with cutting edge technologies. You will coordinate the development and the delivery of solutions as part of a larger, globally distributed team.

You will interact with local and distributed engineering teams, product/program management teams, and stakeholders to design, develop, and release production software, firmware, and hardware.

As our Engineering Manager, you’ll support HID’s success by:

• Manage and lead the software/firmware engineering team.
• Foster a working environment where team members are comfortable with challenging the status quo.
• Review product specifications and designs.
• Lead quarterly PI Planning and ongoing SAFe ceremonies, ensuring team objectives, dependencies, risks, and capacity are clear.
• Promote secure development life cycle.
• Participate and lead daily stand-ups.
• Partner with Product Owners, Product Managers, and System Architects to keep development teams aligned with the business needs.
• Make independent decisions for the team within established policies.
• Take ownership of delivery of Business Objectives agreed to by the team for each SAFe PI.
• Translate business and technical objectives into actionable plans; assign and prioritize work across engineers and other team members.
• Coordinate detailed aspects of development work across backend services, APIs, frontend applications, and production operations.
• Make independent decisions for the team within established policies; recommend improvements to processes and procedures affecting the immediate business group.
• Partner with product, QA, architecture, customer-facing teams, and other stakeholders to align priorities and resolve delivery risks.
• Proactively identify unclear, inconsistent, or technically constrained requirements and communicate issues early to enable course correction.
• Lead, coach, and develop engineers, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and support for professional growth.
• Own team delivery against objectives, schedules, quality expectations, staffing needs, and operational commitments.
• Lead quarterly PI Planning and ongoing SAFe ceremonies, ensuring team objectives, dependencies, risks, and capacity are clear and actively managed.

Education/ or Experience

Engineering degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or a master’s degree plus 6 years; or a PhD plus 3 years. Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating technical teams; at least 5 years in a formal leadership capacity is required. Technical background in designing, developing, and maintaining backend software services and full-stack web application or similar experience. Strong understanding of agile delivery; experience with SAFe and quarterly PI Planning is highly valued. Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills. Advanced oral and written communication skills in Czech and English. Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Prior experience with Atlassian, Git, and Miro. Experience with modern technologies and frameworks, such as Node.js, React, Vue, or Svelte. Experience supporting both cloud and on-premises software environments. Experience managing cross-functional teams, delivery dependencies, costs, staffing, or resource planning.
