Sr. global category manager, raw materials - asia

Position Overview:

Molex is searching for an experienced Sourcing and Procurement professional to lead our Raw Material, Resins category in Asia. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Global Category Lead - Resins. You will be accountable for formulating and implementing Resin category strategies, addressing supply base gaps and cultivating regional strategic suppliers. You will work closely with the internal stakeholders to build relationships and champion global strategic sourcing and Resin selection while providing support to reduce costs, secure supply, technical advice internally and to optimize deliveries; with an intent to ultimately prevent stock outs, leverage spend across internal buying groups and maintain continuity of supply.

Essential Functions:

• Develop/execute Resin strategies to improve the category management maturity level including regional (local to local) sourcing.
• Lead spend & defined savings plans across resin suppliers.
• Lead and participate in team collaboration where category management expertise is required. Ensure category strategy is understood, supported, and implemented regionally with global alignment.
• Monitor supply markets and commodity trends for competitive changes and prepare cost models for respective categories (Resins).
• Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders while building and maintaining strong relationships across various functions. Leverage and build enthusiasm and support for adoption.
• Advise business about similar strategies employed by other “best in class” companies. Identify and manage supplier relationships (SRM) including strategic and business critical suppliers. Closely collaborate with adjacent business depts. to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services in line with agreed service levels.
• Ensure optimal balance between value creation and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and continuity of supply.
• Participate and support active raw material related projects across Molex divisions and functions.
• Internally provide knowledge and support on raw materials and supplier selection.
• Update, and communicate internally on raw material market outlook, price trends and supply agreements.
• Support in sourcing needs for New Product Development (NPD) programs.
• Support and lead pricing negotiations, contract development and execution.
• Support and lead supplier performance reviews.
• End to end cost management.
• Support in technology engagement requirements including monitoring innovation trends for relevant Resins.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (minimum).
• Raw Material Experience in procurement, engineering, product, quality or category management.
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

• An MBA /master’s degree in any field
• Knowledge of global / Asia resin industry and supplier base for engineering polymer resins like PBT, Nylon, and LCP.
• Sourcing experience in Digital procurement platform (like SAP, Ariba)
• Fluent in English.

• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization as well as deliver oral presentations.
• Demonstrated experience driving collaboration with cross functional and business teams.
• Strong management and leadership skills to work with the team to motivate/drive accountability.
