Global freight payment program manager

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive invoice auditing process to ensure all freight invoices are recorded, organized, and verified for accuracy.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the company’s freight coding and audit partner.
• Oversee the daily operations of freight invoice processing, validation, exception and issue resolution.
• Monitor and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track provider performance, audit results, payment accuracy, and timeliness.
• Ensure proper GL coding logic and financial mapping is correctly implemented and maintained with the freight payment provider.
• Partner with Finance to resolve any discrepancies or reporting issues related to freight spend.
• Lead onboarding of new carriers and company sites into the freight payment platform, ensuring compliance with internal processes and requirements.
• Ensure carrier payment terms are met and address any issues related to short-pays, disputes, or aging balances.
• Continuously review and improve freight payment processes for accuracy, efficiency, and cost control.
• Support audit requests and financial reporting related to freight and logistics costs.
• Act as liaison between Transportation, Finance, Procurement, and IT for freight payment-related initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 5+ years of experience in freight audit and payment, logistics, or transportation management.
• Strong understanding of freight payment platforms and processes.
• Experience with financial systems, GL coding, and cost center mapping.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage third-party providers and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience in transportation management systems (TMS) and freight payment platforms (e.g., Trax, SSUI).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience onboarding new carriers and managing multi-site operations.
• Familiarity with global logistics and multiple transportation modes (parcel, LTL, FTL, ocean, air).
• Knowledge of financial controls and audit processes related to logistics.
