Director, global transportation

Duties & Responsibilities

• Own global transportation strategy, operating model, and roadmap aligned to Business Units requirements, customer experience, cost, and resiliency goals.
• Lead end-to-end transportation execution across modes (ocean, air, truckload/LTL, parcel, intermodal) and regions, partnering closely with logistics operations, procurement, planning, and customer teams.
• Develop and manage the transportation budget; drive cost-to-serve transparency and deliver year-over-year productivity and savings initiatives.
• Establish carrier strategy, including selection, contracting support, performance governance, and relationship management; lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
• Manage the Freight Payment / Audit partner to establish a robust freight audit and payment process and create visibility in freight spend.
• Develop requirements for KPI dashboards for internal customers (Power BI) and corrective action plans.
• Champion advancement of Oracle Transportation Management system (OTM) Functionality across all sites.
• Develop and maintain a transportation forecast for Carriers/Forwarders.
• Strengthen transportation risk management: contingency plans, peak readiness, capacity planning, disruption response, and business continuity.
• Ensure compliance with applicable trade, customs, transportation, safety, and regulatory requirements; partner with Legal/Compliance on audits and controls.
• Lead claims prevention and resolution (cargo loss/damage) and improve packaging/handling requirements with internal partners.
• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing global team; define roles, metrics, and career paths; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Drive cross-functional change management for new processes, launches, and network changes; communicate clearly to stakeholders and executive leadership.

Qualification & Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of progressive transportation/logistics experience, including leadership responsibility in a global, multi-site environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in carrier management, network optimization, and multi-modal transportation operations.
• Proven track record delivering measurable cost savings and service improvements through analytics and process improvement.
• Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, cost drivers, total landed cost/cost-to-serve).
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of transportation compliance and risk management (e.g., contracts, liability, insurance, claims).
• Familiarity with sustainability initiatives (e.g., emissions reporting, modal shifts, network decarbonization strategies).
• Proficiency with Oracle Transportation Management system (OTM).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
