As our Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), you’re the steady hand helping Bridgewater Bank understand risk, make informed decisions, and strengthen the systems that protect our business.
You live where strategy meets oversight, bringing structure and clarity to an increasingly complex risk environment. You’ll design, implement, and oversee our enterprise-wide risk management framework, connecting risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting across credit, operational, regulatory, liquidity, and strategic risk.
You don’t just identify risk. You translate it. Whether you’re refreshing our Risk Appetite Statement, monitoring key risk indicators, preparing Board-level reporting, or navigating evolving regulatory expectations, you turn complex information into clear, actionable insights.
As a hands-on leader and subject matter expert, you’ll work closely with senior leadership and business partners while developing a strong team of risk professionals and helping strengthen risk culture across the Bank.
Bridgewater Bank is more than a financial institution; we’re a team of passionate people who care deeply about helping others succeed. Unlike traditional banks, we have no branches. This means less time managing logistics and more time focused on providing straightforward, honest service and smart financial solutions that support our clients in reaching life’s biggest milestones.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of AMA, we share a proud legacy of service and a commitment to doing the right thing for our customers, our communities, and each other. At Bridgewater Bank, you’ll be part of a nimble, forward-thinking organization where your ideas matter, your contributions are valued, and your growth is encouraged. We’re driven to make a positive impact and our close-knit culture values flexibility, innovation, and genuine connection. As part of the Bridgewater team, you’ll enjoy:
For us, curiosity fuels innovation. We value people who are eager to explore new ideas and who are comfortable putting emerging technologies into practice. We see experience with AI‑powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms as a real plus - especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.
You’re a strategic thinker who can see the bigger risk picture without losing sight of the details that matter. You know enterprise risk management inside and out and understand how frameworks like COSO ERM and ISO 31000 apply within a Canadian banking environment. You’re comfortable navigating OSFI regulatory expectations and translating them into practical, executable risk programs. You’re an analytical problem solver who can take complex information and turn it into clear, actionable insights. You’re a confident communicator who can make complex risk topics meaningful to senior leadership and Board-level audiences. You’re collaborative and solutions-oriented. You know how to strengthen risk culture while building strong relationships across the organization. You’re a people leader who knows how to coach, develop, and motivate risk professionals while maintaining a high standard of technical quality.
A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree such as an MBA, MFin, or MRM is an asset. 7–10 years of progressive experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk, regulatory compliance, or a related risk discipline within a financial institution. Experience within a federally regulated financial institution or Schedule I bank is strongly preferred. Direct experience with OSFI guidelines and regulatory examination processes. Experience with RCSA, scenario analysis, stress testing, risk appetite framework design, and KRI frameworks. Strong knowledge across credit, operational, regulatory, market, liquidity, and strategic risk. Strong project-management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with a GRC platform is an asset.
Bridgewater Bank is committed to providing an inclusive, respectful, and accessible environment. If you require an accommodation at any time during our recruitment process, please contact recruitment@ama.ab.ca. We’ll work with you to feel supported throughout your journey with us.
