Job Description

Lead Technology Product Manager – CCH iFirm Taxprep and Taxprep

About the role

As Lead Technology Product Manager, you will own the vision and roadmap of our Canadian tax products, primarily CCH iFirm Taxprep and Taxprep. This role sits between technology and tax: you will work daily with the development and tax teams, and speak the language of both.

You will also talk with accounting firms, in person and virtually, to understand their reality (tax season, deadlines, pressure on staff) and translate what you hear into clear requests. AI is an important part of this role. It increasingly shapes how firms work and how our products evolve, and you will help define where it brings real value to tax professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of CCH iFirm Taxprep and Taxprep, from ideation to delivery and post-launch follow-up.
  • Build and maintain the vision, strategic roadmap and business case for your portfolio.
  • Meet customers and prospects, in person and virtually, to listen to their current and future needs, observe how they work and turn what you hear into clear requests.
  • Work closely with the tax teams to understand which features should be added and to prioritize them.
  • Work with the systems development teams to define requirements, prioritize work and deliver high-quality products in an agile environment.
  • Define how AI can save time for tax professionals, and assess its real value with customers.
  • Ensure a consistent experience with the other modules of the CCH iFirm suite, in collaboration with the other product managers.
  • Collaborate with Go-To-Market, marketing, sales, finance and support teams to ensure every launch and change is ready from a product, operational, sales and customer standpoint.
  • Support go-to-market activities: launches, product sheets, competitive analyses, sales scenarios and post-launch feedback.
  • Work with technical support, professional services and customer service to ensure post-purchase training and support needs are met.
  • Monitor product performance, KPIs and customer feedback, and turn them into concrete improvements.
  • Follow industry trends, competitors and the evolving needs of Canadian accounting firms.
  • Be the go-to person for customers and internal teams when an issue comes up with your products.
  • Support compliance and data-privacy activities.
  • Explain technical and tax concepts clearly to audiences who are neither, and vice versa.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, computer science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting firm, software development or product management.
  • Good understanding of Canadian taxation (personal, corporate or trusts) and comfort with its vocabulary.
  • Working knowledge of AI concepts and technologies, and the ability to apply them to concrete use cases for tax professionals.
  • Knowledge of how accounting firms operate and experience working with accounting and tax professionals.
  • Comfort leading meetings and discussions with customers, from end user to administrator, in person and virtually.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
  • Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.

Assets

  • Experience using tax software.
  • Experience building roadmaps, defining requirements and managing a product's lifecycle.
  • Analytical skills: turning data and customer feedback into useful improvements.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Understanding of the data-privacy and security considerations of the Canadian market.
  • Curiosity, self-motivation, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple files under tight deadlines, especially during peak season.
  • Ability to learn new products, technologies and industries quickly.

Conditions

Occasional travel (about 10%), mainly to meet customers.
