Title and Summary

Director, SME Growth Program Management

Overview: SMEs are the backbone of the global economy and a key driver of Mastercard’s growth strategy. As both buyers and sellers within the payment ecosystem, they represent a significant opportunity to expand adoption, deepen engagement, and deliver innovative solutions that help businesses thrive.

The Director, SME PMO & Strategic Execution will serve as the operational backbone of Mastercard's global SME business across the enterprise, ensuring priorities are translated into coordinated action and measurable outcomes. This role is responsible for driving cross-functional execution, governance, and accountability across the SME organization, partnering closely with senior leaders to align stakeholders, prioritize investments, and maximize business impact.

As a trusted advisor and chief integrator, the Director will establish the operating rhythms, performance management processes, and decision-making frameworks that keep strategic initiatives on track. The role requires a highly collaborative leader who can influence across a complex global matrix, anticipate risks and dependencies, and bring teams together around shared objectives.

The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen with exceptional program management and stakeholder leadership skills. They thrive in fast-paced environments, excel at turning strategy into execution, and are passionate about driving organizational effectiveness, accelerating growth initiatives, and ensuring Mastercard delivers against its SME ambitions.

Role:

• Establish and lead cross-functional execution of enterprise SME priorities, ensuring alignment across key stakeholder groups.
• Establish governance, operating rhythms, and performance management processes that drive accountability and business impact.
• Ensure resources, investments, and executive attention remain focused on the highest-value opportunities.
• Foster a culture of collaboration across regions, business units, and functions
• Continuously monitor progress, identify opportunities, and lead corrective actions to maximize impact
• Measure and communicate progress against strategic objectives and key business outcomes.
• Support planning for high-impact customer, partner, and industry engagements that strengthen Mastercard's position in the SME ecosystem
• Ensure successful activation and localization of growth initiatives in partnership with regional and market teams
• Partner with Product, Regional, Services, Public Sector, and Corporate Strategy teams to align enterprise priorities and growth initiatives

• Proven experience leading growth, business transformation, consulting, or business operations functions
• Exceptional ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across a highly matrixed global organization.
• Experience building scalable operating models, governance structures, and organizational capabilities.
• Strong commercial acumen with a relentless focus on driving measurable business outcomes.
• Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and leading through change with speed, accountability, and resilience.
• You have courage to challenge the status quo, are proactive (versus reactive), and have a strong sense of humor!

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
