Introduction to the Team

Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.

As an Accounting Specialist, you will support statutory accounting compliance for international Expedia Group entities. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, tax specialists, and advisors to deliver accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance, and improve accounting processes across a global organization.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Prepare statutory accounts and audit files for international entities.
• Coordinate with external auditors, respond to audit queries, and provide requested data and explanations.
• Partner with Finance, non-Finance, Tax, VAT, and external advisory teams to obtain accurate information on a timely basis.
• Collaborate with the International Tax team on corporate tax matters for entities within your scope.
• Support onboarding of Group companies into global accounting processes.
• Document process flows, maintain relationships with external advisors, and identify efficiency improvements.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, and review monthly profit and loss and balance sheet results before close.
• Coordinate with outsourced bookkeeping providers on local GAAP differences, document retention, and local tax compliance.
• Support VAT return reviews and post journals on an ad hoc basis.
• Maintain adherence to SOX controls and support continuous improvements to the month-end close process.
• Contribute to other accounting projects and initiatives as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
• Active CRC registration.
• Seven or more years of accounting experience, including experience supporting statutory reporting and compliance.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English.
• Experience with Oracle ERP, including the General Ledger module.
• Proficient Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting processes.
• Ability to apply accounting knowledge and prior experience to support team objectives in a collaborative, high-growth organization.

Preferred

• Big Four accounting experience.
• Experience with Oracle Accounts Payable.
• Experience working with international entities, local GAAP requirements, external auditors, tax advisors, and outsourced accounting providers.
• Experience documenting processes and implementing accounting or month-end efficiency improvements.
