Make an impact at Serco. As a Trade Instructor – Metal Fabrication at Acacia Prison, you’ll use your trade expertise to deliver and evaluate practical training programs that help inmates build skills, confidence and employment prospects. Working within the Industries team, you’ll provide meaningful vocational training and work experience in a safe, respectful workshop environment. Your work will support rehabilitation, reintegration and positive post-release employment outcomes while contributing to the safety and security of the prison and wider community.

As a Trade Instructor – Metal Fabrication in the Industries team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

• Delivering practical metal fabrication training and development activities in the workshop
• Supervising inmates and supporting safe, productive and respectful workshop activities
• Encouraging participation in vocational training to support rehabilitation and employability
• Maintaining workshop safety, security, tools, equipment and accurate training records
• Monitoring production quality, equipment and safe work practices
• Contributing trade knowledge and experience to support inmates’ skills development

Serco is a place for you. You could be a great fit if you have:

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication (Light) or similar
• A minimum of five years’ metal fabrication experience
• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements in a workshop environment
• A valid driver’s licence and current forklift licence
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, respectful approach
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and Certificate III in Correctional Practice, or willingness to complete these qualifications within your first year
