Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a strategic Senior IT Asset Management (ITAM) Consultant with strong IT Service Management (ITSM) integration expertise. This role is not just about tracking inventory or managing tickets; it is about architectural convergence. The ideal candidate will design and enforce strategies where asset data (financials, licensing, lifecycles) seamlessly drives service management, and where service consumption accurately dictates asset optimization. You will bridge the gap between IT operations and lifecycle economics, ensuring a single source of truth across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic ITAM & Lifecycle Governance (Core)

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve end-to-end Hardware and Software Asset Management (HAM & SAM) processes.
  • Govern the lifecycle of all IT assets from procurement and deployment to retirement and disposal, ensuring cost optimization and compliance.
  • Lead software license compliance audits, vendor true-ups, and proactive contract renewals to mitigate financial and legal risks.
  • Embed FinOps principles into ITAM processes to track cloud spend, software utilization, and infrastructure costs against business value.

ITSM Integration & Operational Convergence

  • Drive the integration of ITAM data into core ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management) to provide operational context.
  • Ensure that any IT change (e.g., provisioning new environments, application upgrades) automatically triggers the necessary ITAM workflows (license allocation, cost center tagging).
  • Partner with Service Owners to build asset governance directly into the service design and onboarding phases.
  • Architect and maintain the integrity of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring accurate relationships between physical assets, software models, and the business services they support.

Automation & Risk Mitigation

  • Identify opportunities to automate asset discovery, compliance reporting, and lifecycle state changes to reduce manual overhead.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics that reflect both asset utilization/compliance (ITAM) and service availability/reliability (ITSM).
  • Act as the primary liaison between Procurement, IT Operations, Security, and Finance teams to break down process silos.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of dedicated experience in IT Asset Management (SAM & HAM), with at least 3 years actively integrating ITAM with ITSM frameworks.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of asset lifecycle economics, software licensing models (Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, SaaS), and cloud consumption metrics.
  • Frameworks: Strong foundational knowledge of ITIL 4 practices (specifically Change Enablement, Service Configuration Management, and IT Asset Management).
  • Certifications: IAITAM certifications (CHAMP, CSAM, CITAM) or equivalent are highly preferred. ITIL Foundations or higher is required.
  • Skills: Exceptional architectural mindset with the ability to map physical/virtual infrastructure to business services. Platform-agnostic understanding of discovery tools and unified CMDB structures.

This demand is for pipelining purposes only.
