We are seeking an Intermediate level Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality civil and structural design outcomes across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on transportation infrastructure delivery. This role is suited to a capable and motivated engineer who enjoys working in multidisciplinary project environments and contributing to technically complex projects. The engineer will be responsible for undertaking engineering design under the guidance of senior engineers and designers. The role will support engineering teams from early concept development through to detailed design and execution. While the core focus will be on infrastructure projects such as railway, transport and civil structures, the opportunity to contribute to heavy industrial and mining projects also exists.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare structural design for infrastructure projects, including concrete, steel, and civil structures.
• Oversee the development of project models in accordance with project and company BIM standards.
• Review design documentation including general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, steelwork drawings, and schedules.
• Coordinate structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural inputs when required.
• Provide designers with sketches, and markups to assist with design documentation development.
• Compile calculation packages and undertake project reporting.
• Liaise with clients to ensure deliverables achieve the requirements and timing expectations are met.
• Undertake site inspections as required to verify site conditions to support accurate design documentation.
• Ensure documentation complies with relevant standards, codes, client specifications, and quality procedures.
• Support project delivery to meet programme, quality, and budget objectives.
• Undertake in drawing checks and design reviews.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience as a design engineer on infrastructure projects (e.g. bridges, culverts, retaining structures, stations, civil structures etc.).
• An interest in rail systems.
• Demonstrated experience with structural analysis packages such as Strand7 / Space Gass.
• A willingness to develop an understanding of standards and guidelines with existing knowledge of the AS3600, AS4100 and AS5100 documents.
• Sound understanding of structural drawings, construction methods, and coordination requirements for infrastructure works.
• An ability to interpret civil modelling to ensure successful structural / civil interface.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality outputs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience delivering projects for transport or public infrastructure.

Desirable:

• Experience with design packages such as RAPT, MIDAS Civil, Structural Bridge Design etc.
• Knowledge of Rail Infrastructure Maintainer (RIM) standards.

About You

You will hold civil / structural engineering degree and have 5 years of experience delivering civil and structural design. You have a strong willingness to learn and have demonstrated experience with transport infrastructure design. You are confident working across disciplines, understand industry standards and regulatory requirements. Strong communication skills, safety awareness, and the ability to communicate effectively in English are essential.
