Human resources business partner, director

We are seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to lead HR coverage for the Infrastructure Divisions and support the Senior HR Business Partner for the Institutional Securities Division. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing strategic guidance on people priorities, talent initiatives, and organizational effectiveness.

This is a Director-level opportunity within the HR Business Partner team, responsible for influencing and executing long-term people strategies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Partnering closely with managers and stakeholders across the business, the successful candidate will operate across the full spectrum of HR disciplines to deliver practical, business-aligned solutions and drive strategic people outcomes.

What you’ll do in the role:

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, providing strategic guidance on workforce, talent, and organisational priorities.
• Partner with business leaders and HR colleagues to develop and execute people strategies that support business performance, growth, and organisational effectiveness.
• Lead key talent, performance, succession, promotion, and compensation processes, using workforce insights and analytics to inform decision-making.
• Advise and coach leaders on complex employee relations matters, performance management, organisational change, and risk mitigation.
• Drive talent and leadership development initiatives in partnership with regional Centres of Excellence, including Talent Development, Diversity & Inclusion, and Benefits.
• Partner with business leaders on workforce planning, organisational design, hiring strategy, and internal mobility.
• Leverage people data and market intelligence to identify trends, assess workforce risks, and support strategic planning.
• Collaborate with Compensation, Legal, Compliance, Employee Relations and Recruitment teams to deliver integrated people solutions.
• Champion an inclusive, high-performance culture and contribute to firm-wide people initiatives.
• Lead and deliver strategic HR projects that enhance employee experience, strengthen organisational capability, and support business objectives.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• University degree and at least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
• HR Business Partner experience, ideally within financial services or a complex, matrixed organisation.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Analytical skills with the ability to translate workforce data and insights into business recommendations.
• Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience with Australian employment legislation and regulatory requirements (Australian Fair Work Act/NES legislation).
• Collaborative, solutions-focused approach with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive change.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Continuous improvement mindset, including leveraging technology and AI to enhance people outcomes.
• Experience with Workday is advantageous.
