Associate technical consultant, environmental scientist

We’re seeking Senior and Principal Environmental Consultants to join our growing Environment & Approvals team in Queensland.

Worley is expanding its Environmental Consulting and Approvals capability in Queensland, and we are seeking expressions of interest from experienced environmental professionals interested in joining our Brisbane-based team.

With a strong and growing pipeline of work across energy, resources and major infrastructure projects, this is an opportunity to play a key role in helping clients navigate complex environmental and regulatory challenges throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region, with an immediate focus on Queensland.

What you'll do

In these senior-level roles, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality environmental outcomes while building trusted client relationships. Responsibilities may include:

• Leading and delivering environmental approvals and consulting projects across a range of sectors.
• Providing technical expertise across environmental approvals, environmental management and environmental engineering disciplines.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary Worley and client teams to develop practical, sustainable project solutions.
• Managing relationships with clients, regulators and key stakeholders.
• Preparing proposals and tender submissions and supporting business development activities.
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members while contributing to technical excellence across the business.

What you'll bring

To be successful, you'll bring a strong consulting background and the ability to operate at Senior or Principal level, including:

• Demonstrated experience in environmental consulting and approvals, ideally within energy, resources and/or major infrastructure sectors.
• Strong understanding of Queensland and Australian environmental legislation and approval pathways.
• Proven experience delivering complex environmental projects and providing technical leadership.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to develop tailored solutions that deliver value for clients.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, report writing and communication skills.
• A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work from our Brisbane office and travel as required to support project delivery.

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:

• Environmental approvals and regulatory frameworks
• Queensland and Commonwealth environmental approvals frameworks, including:
• Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld)
• Planning Act 2016 (Qld)
• State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971
• Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act)
• Queensland environmental impact assessment processes
• Project delivery and technical documentation
• Preparation and management of:
• Environmental Impact Statements (EIS)
• Environmental approval applications
• EPBC Act referrals and associated documentation
• Environmental Management Plans (EMP, CEMP and OEMP)
• Mining, oil and gas and major infrastructure approvals
• Stakeholder engagement
• Engagement with Queensland and Commonwealth regulators and approval authorities.
• Experience working in remote and regional environments.
• Understanding of land access requirements and stakeholder consultation processes.
• Strong project management and client relationship management skills.
