Job Position: Junior Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Specialist

Department: Corporate Finance

Reports to: Group ESG Manager

Overview

The Junior Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Specialist supports the implementation and monitoring of the Group ESG Framework and Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across Group companies and projects. The role contributes to environmental and social due diligence, E&S risk monitoring and documentation, ESG data collection and reporting, and other activities supporting the Group’s ESG objectives. As a junior professional role, the position provides hands-on exposure to ESG and E&S practices, enabling the development of practical expertise in ESMS implementation, E&S risk management, international standards, ESG monitoring and sustainability reporting.

Main Responsibilities:

ESG Framework & E&S Risk Management

• Assist in implementing, monitoring and improving the Group ESG Framework and ESMS.
• Support ESDD for investments, acquisitions, developments and relevant transactions.
• Support preparation and review of E&S assessments, management plans, monitoring reports and action plans.
• Monitor E&S risks, mitigation measures, commitments and corrective actions.
• Support site monitoring of environmental, social, OHS and community health and safety matters.

Stakeholder & Group Coordination

• Support stakeholder engagement and public consultation activities.
• Coordinate with ESG Champions across Group companies to support ESG implementation and follow-up.
• Coordinate ESG follow-up with Group companies, project teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.

ESG Data, Monitoring & Reporting

• Collect and consolidate ESG data and monitor key performance indicators.
• Maintain ESG databases, KPI and action trackers, and supporting records.
• Support ESG monitoring and reporting, including materials for the ESG Committee and management.
• Collect and consolidate information for the BALFIN Group Annual Report, sustainability reporting and corporate disclosures.

ESG Standards, Tools & Research

• Develop and update ESG guidelines, procedures, checklists, templates and supporting materials.
• Research ESG regulations, international standards, sustainability trends and good practices, and support ESG benchmarking.

ESG Training & Awareness

• Prepare ESG presentations, training materials, internal guidance and awareness communications, and support related meetings, workshops and training activities.

Requirements

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Up to 2 years of relevant experience in ESG, E&S management, sustainability, environmental assessment or related areas, including relevant internships.
• Exposure to E&S assessments, monitoring, reporting or stakeholder engagement is an advantage.
• Excellent command of Albanian and English.

Technical knowledge and skills

• Good understanding of ESG principles, E&S risk management, monitoring and reporting.
• Knowledge of relevant E&S legislation and familiarity with ESMS and ISO 14001/45001.
• Familiarity with IFC, EBRD and/or World Bank E&S frameworks is an advantage.
• Ability to analyze ESG data and prepare clear reports and documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
