Senior Tax Accountant

Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Sr. Tax Accountant for a full-time hybrid opportunity in Waverly, Iowa. This position is designed for an experienced public accounting professional with a strong background in complex corporate, partnership and individual taxation who is looking for long-term career growth and the opportunity to pursue firm ownership.

Responsibilities

• Provide tax planning and preparation for a diverse client base while serving as a trusted advisor on complex tax matters.
• Lead the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns.
• Prepare and review individual tax returns.
• Prepare and review C-Corporation tax returns.
• Prepare and review S-Corporation tax returns.
• Prepare and review Partnership tax returns.
• Provide sophisticated tax planning for a diverse client base.
• Ensure filings comply with current IRS and Iowa state tax laws.
• Stay current with changing tax legislation.
• Provide proactive tax guidance to clients.
• Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues.
• Support client strategies and assist with IRS or state-level inquiries.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients.
• Provide comprehensive financial solutions based on clients' personal and professional circumstances.
• Support client retention and the development of new financial solutions.
• Provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
• Provide technical review to support accuracy and professional development.

Compensation

$80,000-$100,000 DOE

Hybrid Schedule

Minimum 3 days per week in the Waverly office.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience specifically involving corporate, partnership and individual taxation REQUIRED.
• Local candidate residing in or willing to commute to Waverly, IA REQUIRED.
• Ability to work in the Waverly office at least 3 days per week REQUIRED.
• Experience with standard tax preparation and accounting software such as UltraTax, CCH or similar REQUIRED.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident work authorization REQUIRED.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent).
• Desire to pursue firm ownership opportunities within a growing regional practice.
• Familiarity with the financial needs of businesses and individuals along the US 20 corridor.
