Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Marketing Applications owns executional excellence across the marketing technology application portfolio end to end including its people, platforms, integrations, and operational health. That means ensuring each platform, from identity resolution to asset management to channel delivery, runs reliably, integrates seamlessly with others, and stays ahead of the people it serves, anticipating what marketers and guests need and delivering capabilities before they think to ask.

This is not solely a vendor-management seat. The successful candidate blends platform and portfolio judgment with a genuine engineering foundation: someone who understands how these systems are deployed, integrated, and automated, and who can go deep with the team on architecture, CI/CD, AI-assisted engineering, and code when it matters while building an accountable, collaborative team culture.

Job Responsibilities:

People and Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the team, in-house engineers and an offshore development pod, with accountability for delivery, operations, and team growth; set clear expectations and performance objectives through regular one-on-ones and development planning, and build growth paths toward technical lead roles.
• Stand up and sustain the offshore support model for operational and monitoring coverage scaling it as new platforms enter the portfolio.

Portfolio and Platform Ownership

• Own individual platform roadmaps and ensure they align with the enterprise MarTech roadmap; partner with peers and leadership on portfolio strategy, including build-vs-buy decisions, consolidation opportunities, capability gaps, and total cost of ownership.
• Lead the evaluation and onboarding of new applications into the portfolio, defining the support tier, ownership, monitoring, and integration standards for each platform before go-live.
• Own vendor relationships with engineers; serve as a senior escalation point for platform incidents and vendor performance, owning operational SLAs in partnership with the QE and Operations organization.

Engineering and Operations

• Ensure modern delivery practices across both SaaS configuration and custom development: release management, CI/CD, environment and deployment structure, and integration architecture.
• Maintain operational excellence across platforms with real uptime and deliverability stakes; ensure incidents drive root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Identify and deliver AI opportunities in how the team works, AI-assisted engineering as the default, automated code review and testing, agentic automation of runbooks, campaign QA tooling, and in GTM capabilities such as personalization and send orchestration.

Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement

• Translate marketing stakeholders' campaign and lifecycle ambitions into platform capabilities and realistic roadmaps.
• Partner with the Solution Architect on integration architecture and platform decisions, and with centralized Delivery (PM/TPO) and shared QE/Ops on staffing and execution in a matrixed model.
• Communicate service health, priorities, risks, and progress clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, from the team through senior leadership.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years of people-management or technical leadership experience serving as a technical lead accountable for delivery, mentoring, and engineering standards.
• Experience building and operating across a multi-platform environment spanning commercial SaaS and custom-built applications in production, including at least one application where your team owned the codebase, deployments, and incidents — not exclusively managed SaaS administration.
• Strong technical foundation: has designed or materially contributed to deployment architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and API/event-driven integration patterns. Familiarity with iPaaS/ETL pipelines and cloud data warehouse; working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and container orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalent); can still read and reason about code (JavaScript and SQL in particular).
• Experience in marketing technology domains, CDP, ESP/mobile messaging, content management, journey builders, or integration platforms; including supporting high-volume consumer messaging in production (deliverability, send orchestration, campaign quality).
• Experience working with platform vendors on escalations, support, and roadmap input; contract ownership experience a plus.
• Practical experience applying AI tooling to engineering work: AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with complex identity resolution and the cloud data warehouses that support it (Databricks or comparable).
• Direct experience with Amperity or a comparable CDP, SnapLogic or a comparable iPaaS, AEM, Airship, Mailgun, or building/operating a proprietary ESP.
• Experience directing offshore/BPO delivery teams across time zones.

Work Environment:

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment where employees living within 50 miles of the Broomfield office work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays. Employees living outside of a commutable distance can work remotely from British Columbia, Washington D.C., and the 16 U.S. states* in which we currently operate.
