At MiniMed, you can begin a lifelong career of exploration and innovation, while helping make a difference in the lives of people living with diabetes around the globe. You'll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation for a more connected, compassionate world.

About the Role

In this exciting and lively role as a test engineer, your responsibilities will include developing and implementing test strategies related to wireless diabetes therapy systems. You will develop test plans, test methods, and present reports collaborating with project leaders. You will also be responsible for executing design verification for new products in development and evaluating design changes for additional testing. You will collaborate with engineers across various disciplines and non-engineering functions to help patients manage diabetes with world class products.

This will be a hybrid position which requires a person to be onsite a minimum of 3 days a week. During testing, the expectation is to be onsite for the duration of that test.

A Day in the Life

  • Develop test strategies activities associated with a family of insulin therapy systems used by individuals to effectively manage Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • Develop test methods and support test execution related to wireless performance internally and externally at contract labs for new and existing products.
  • Merge real-world data and use conditions with in-house testing to promote user centric designs.
  • Operate and maintain broad spectrum of lab equipment used in mechanical, electrical, and chemical testing.
  • Collaborate cross functionally across R&D functions and provide assessments with standards and global regulatory teams to expand global availability of MiniMed systems around the world.
  • Review and contribute to risk management deliverables like failure modes effects analysis (dFMEA/pFMEA) and identify potential patient hazards.
  • Develop product knowledge and provide feedback to other R&D teams based on test results.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and technical writing skills while collaborating with large cross-functional teams (R&D, Ops, Regulatory, Quality).

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working on electromechanical systems or medical devices.
  • Experience with test method development and willingness to be hands-on in lab environments.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% and support testing at external test labs within the U.S.

Nice to Have

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience collaborating with a team of engineers and non-engineers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges on a broad spectrum of topics.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry with rigid design and development controls.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methods (Fishbone, 5 Whys, Is or Is Not?).
  • Experience with Standards and Regulations related to Medical Devices (IEC 60601-1, 21 CFR 820, European Radio Directive, MDR).
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge to other engineers as part of a large collaborative work environment.
  • Familiarity with SW tools (written in either LabView, Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience with planning and executing formal tests and generating detailed records.
