As a Senior Electrical Engineer on our Digital Controls & Mixed Signal Engineering team, you will design and debug complex circuit boards and electronic subsystems incorporating analog circuitry, power, signal conditioning, data converters, communications, and embedded digital devices.

We are seeking a strong, hands-on hardware engineer with sound technical judgment and experience turning challenging designs into reliable products. This role also provides opportunities to lead projects, mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and improve reusable designs and engineering practices.

Candidates may come from many industries and technical backgrounds. Relevant experience may involve microcontrollers, processors, DSPs, SoCs, ASICs, or programmable logic. FPGA or HDL development experience is not required.

We do not expect candidates to have experience with every technology listed. We encourage you to apply based on your engineering strengths and interest in learning adjacent technologies.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify mixed-signal circuit boards and electronic subsystems for advanced MRI platforms.
• Develop hardware integrating analog signal chains, data converters, power circuitry, communication interfaces, and embedded or complex digital devices.
• Perform component selection, schematic development, circuit analysis, design reviews, board bring-up, laboratory characterization, debugging, and system integration.
• Define and validate electrical interfaces across hardware, programmable devices, firmware, software, mechanical, and systems engineering.
• Develop verification approaches and lead or contribute to root-cause investigations.
• Support signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, reliability, testability, and manufacturability activities.
• Support hardware throughout the product lifecycle, from early architecture through production and field support.
• Share knowledge through design reviews, documentation, collaborative problem solving, and mentoring.
• Technical leadership may include leading a project, owning a difficult subsystem, improving design practice, mentoring another engineer, or contributing deep expertise to a challenging investigation. Formal people-management experience is not required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience designing and debugging electronic hardware.
• Demonstrated strength in mixed-signal board or subsystem design.
• Hands-on experience in several areas such as analog signal conditioning, sensors, data converters, embedded processors, microcontrollers, power electronics, controls, or communications.
• Experience integrating analog circuitry with a microcontroller, processor, DSP, SoC, ASIC, programmable-logic device, or similar digital device.
• Experience with schematic development, component selection, board bring-up, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with embedded interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB, PCIe, or comparable technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a hardware project or major subsystem.
• Experience with precision analog circuitry, sensors, ADCs, DACs, power, EMC, signal integrity, or high-speed digital interfaces.
• Experience with SPICE or similar analysis tools.
• Experience developing products in medical devices, professional power tools, industrial controls, robotics, automotive, aerospace, defense, scientific instrumentation, test and measurement, or similar industries.
• Experience with regulated, safety-critical, high-reliability, harsh-environment, or high-volume products.

Work Model

This hybrid position requires a minimum of three days per week on site in Waukesha. On-site work supports laboratory development, board bring-up, system integration, and collaboration with engineering partners.
