About the Position

As an entry level Electrical Studies Engineer in the Renewable Studies group, you will be responsible for performing engineering analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be a part of an integrated design team and are responsible for coordinating with team members to meet project schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Learn how to prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility scale solar, wind, BESS power plants and substations including short circuit, load flow, pre-energization harmonics, relay protection philosophy / relay settings, arc flash and other related studies.
  • Manage timely execution of assigned tasks and proactively communicate with your supervisor if workload exceeds capacity or capability.
  • Communicate and coordinate with design teams to correctly model evolving design through a project design cycle.
  • Review equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design and approvals.
  • Learn and maintain professional understanding of applicable Codes and Standards, and typical design and construction practices that may impact design study results.
  • Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships.
  • Works additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as required.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.

Must Have

  • Education: Bachelor’s in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution, electric power option preferred.
  • Experience: 0 – 1 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • Licensure: FE is preferred but not required.
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal and people skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with some power system software such as EasyPower, ETAP, Power Factory SKM, PSSe, & PSCAD is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software.

Working Conditions

Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting, and some field work may be required.

Travel: Typical: 5 – 15%

Physical Activities: Must be able to lift 25lbs.
