Our Fortune 500 client is seeking a Data Engineer IV. SMB and Emerging Mid-Market (EMM) are core growth engines for QuickBooks, spanning Care Dedicated Sales, Allbound Inbound/Outbound, EMM, and Supplies — with QuickBooks Online Advanced as a flagship growth line inside that portfolio. As the business scales, we're turning a reactive, run-the-business reporting function into a forward-looking planning engine, and this role is the analytical backbone behind that effort — building and maintaining funnel-driver models, reconciling data across systems, and doing the hands-on SQL and modeling work that turns raw booking and pipeline data into a plan leadership can trust.
Responsibilities
- Funnel & Driver Modeling
- Build and maintain bottoms-up, driver-based funnel models (Inputs → SQL → SQO →Wins) covering New and Expansion motion across SMB/EMM channel
- Support the build-out of a lever-driven planning model where volume, conversion rate, and ARPC assumptions can be flexed and scenario-tested (e.g., input volume scenarios, initiative upside cases)
- Maintain conversion rate and unit economics tracking (Start→SQL, SQL→Win, Start→Win CVR; Units; ARPC/AOV; ARR) at the channel and segment level
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Write and maintain SQL against the sales data warehouse (pydatalake/Databricks) to pull, validate, and reconcile booking, pipeline, and forecast data from source tables
- Own or co-own recurring reporting (weekly review packs, data packs, dashboards) that leadership and Finance use to track plan vs. actual
- Investigate variance between plan and actuals, identify root cause, and package findings into clear, actionable summaries — not just raw numbers
- Reconcile figures across planning artifacts (allocation sheets, channel targets, funnel models) into one tied-out number
- Rhythm of Business Support
- Support the weekly/monthly/quarterly planning and business review cadence — prepping data, building materials, and tracking follow-through on decisions and action items
- Help maintain planning data integrity in Anaplan and other planning systems, including hierarchy and assumption updates across planning passes
- Flag data quality issues, broken pipelines, or reporting gaps proactively, before they surface in a leadership review
Requirement:
- 5+ years in sales/business/revenue operations, FP&A, business analytics, or a related analytical role, ideally at a SaaS or technology company
- AI-native — fluent working with Claude (e.g., Claude Code, Cowork, or similar) as a daily tool for data analysis, modeling, and workflow automation, not just occasional chat use
- Strong SQL skills — comfortable writing and troubleshooting queries against a data warehouse (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, or similar) independently
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets modeling skills; able to build and audit a driver-based model, not just fill one in
- Experience with a BI tool (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) for dashboarding and reporting
- Strong attention to detail and data integrity — comfortable being the person whose numbers get trusted without a re-check
- Clear, structured communication — able to turn a data pull or model output into a summary a business stakeholder can act on
- Sound business judgment — able to translate a sales or planning question into the right analysis, sanity-check outputs against business reality, and stay effective amid evolving priorities and imperfect data
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Anaplan or another enterprise planning platform
- Exposure to sales funnel and B2B SaaS metrics (pipeline, conversion rates, ARR, unit economics)
- Experience supporting a recurring business review cadence (WBR/MBR/QBR) — prepping data and materials against a deadline
