Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join her False Claims Division as an Assistant Attorney General. The False Claims Division holds accountable individuals and companies that make false statements to obtain government contracts or funds and brings enforcement actions against companies in diverse industries, including public construction, transportation, communications, technology, and health care. Cases often require coordination with state, local, and federal authorities and involve challenging and complex enforcement matters.

Primary Duties:

The Assistant Attorney General will be responsible for handling the investigation and litigation of complex matters involving alleged violations of the Massachusetts False Claims Act. Key investigative responsibilities include obtaining documents and taking testimony through civil investigative demands, interviewing witnesses, analyzing evidence, drafting memoranda, and negotiating settlements. Litigation responsibilities may include handling pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, and trial when applicable. The Assistant Attorney General also will be responsible for assessing, investigating, and litigating sealed whistleblower, or qui tam, actions, some of which are filed on behalf of multiple government entities, and all of which require collaboration with the whistleblower and their attorney.

Position Requirements:

• A member of the Massachusetts bar or eligible for admission in short order.
• At least three (3) years of complex litigation experience is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication and advocacy skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making.
• Effective organizational skills, time management abilities, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Significant interest in working in a public interest enforcement environment.
• Previous experience handling matters involving fraud and/or the federal or Massachusetts False Claims Act is strongly desired but not required.
• The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date. Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must pass the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date.

Position Type:

Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most Positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.

Salary:

$ 90,125 - $ 134,513, commensurate with JD year.
