Job Description

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is the global leader in integrated vehicle transportation and logistics, supporting customers across their supply chain, from the factory to the end-consumer. Our ambition is to lead the way in transforming shipping and logistics. Wallenius Wilhelmsen is undergoing a significant digital transformation, investing in modern platforms, new technologies and AI-enabled capabilities. To support this journey, we are strengthening our procurement function and building strategic supplier partnerships that create long-term business value.

We are now looking for a Category Manager, IT & Technology, who can bring strong strategic procurement expertise into a rapidly evolving technology landscape. You don't necessarily need a background in IT procurement. What matters most is your commercial mindset, ability to navigate complex supplier relationships and drive strategic sourcing initiatives. If you are curious about technology and motivated by the opportunity to shape procurement in a global organisation, this could be your next step.

About the Role

As Category Manager, you will take ownership of the global IT and technology category, developing sourcing strategies, leading commercial negotiations and building strong supplier relationships. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Digital, IT, Finance and Legal, you will ensure that procurement decisions support business priorities and long-term value creation. You will also collaborate with the Strategic Partner Manager, combining your commercial expertise with dedicated technology capabilities. This is an opportunity to make a real impact in a developing procurement function, where you can challenge established practices, influence important commercial decisions and help shape the way procurement operates.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Develop and execute category strategies based on spend analysis, market insights and business needs
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, tenders and complex contract negotiations
  • Drive strategic supplier relationships and commercial outcomes
  • Drive category value by influencing what we buy, how we buy and what we pay, balancing cost, risk and business performance
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, risk reduction and long-term value creation
  • Ensure effective contract management, commercial governance and supplier risk management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to align procurement strategies with business objectives
  • Contribute to developing procurement processes, capabilities and best practices

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for a commercially driven procurement professional who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach. You understand how to create value through strong supplier relationships, well-structured agreements and smart commercial decisions. You are analytical, proactive and confident in challenging existing ways of working. Most importantly, you bring curiosity, sound judgement and the ambition to further develop your expertise in a changing business environment.

We believe you bring:

  • Relevant higher education within Business, Economics, Procurement or a related field
  • Around five years or more of experience within strategic procurement, category management or strategic sourcing
  • Solid experience with commercial negotiations, contract management and strategic supplier relationships
  • Strong commercial understanding and the ability to identify opportunities, manage risks and drive value
  • Experience collaborating with and influencing stakeholders across functions
  • An interest in technology and digital transformation. Previous IT procurement experience is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English. Any Scandinavian language is an advantage

Our Promise

At Wallenius Wilhelmsen, you will join a global organisation undergoing significant transformation, with the opportunity to influence major commercial decisions and help develop a strategic procurement function. We offer a role with significant ownership and international exposure, competitive compensation with bonus potential, close collaboration with senior stakeholders and strong opportunities for professional development. The position offers flexible working arrangements in Oslo or Gothenburg.
