Senior platform engineer (azure & identity automation)

Help secure and automate identity services used across Swiss Re's global workforce while shaping the future of a Tier 0 cloud platform.

About the Role

Join the Directory & Authentication Services team and help evolve the platform behind Swiss Re's identity automation ecosystem. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will own and continuously improve the Azure platform supporting a security-critical automation solution that enables identity governance, tenant management and privileged operations within Entra ID. Working closely with software engineers, cloud architects and identity specialists, you will drive infrastructure automation, platform security and engineering excellence in a highly privileged Tier 0 environment.

This is a product engineering role focused on platform ownership, innovation and automation, not operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Azure platform supporting our identity automation solution
• Drive the expansion of Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform and help shape the future platform architecture
• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes using Azure DevOps
• Embed security throughout the software delivery lifecycle, including infrastructure hardening, vulnerability management and compliance controls
• Partner with software engineers to deliver secure, scalable and reliable cloud-native solutions
• Implement monitoring, observability and operational health dashboards using metrics, logs and telemetry
• Develop automation solutions and engineering improvements using PowerShell, cloud-native technologies and AI-assisted development tools
• Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices and continuous improvement

About the Team

The Directory & Authentication Services team is responsible for Swiss Re's Active Directory, Entra ID and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services. We ensure that our identity platforms remain secure, resilient and ready to support a continuously evolving business. You will be part of a highly collaborative team of identity, cloud and security specialists working across multiple locations and time zones. We foster knowledge sharing, innovation and growth while embracing Swiss Re's principle of "Leadership from Every Seat."

About You

You enjoy taking ownership of platforms, solving complex technical challenges and working at the intersection of cloud engineering, security and automation. You bring a security-first mindset, strong technical expertise and the ability to drive improvements independently.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and cloud platform engineering
• Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation
• Deep knowledge of Azure services and security controls, including networking, private connectivity, storage, Key Vault and serverless services
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure cloud engineering practices
• Experience designing, operating and securing production-grade cloud platforms
• Understanding of identity and security concepts such as managed identities, workload identities and secure authentication patterns
• Ability to take ownership, work independently and influence technical direction

Nice to Have

• Experience with Entra ID, Active Directory or PKI environments
• Understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM)
• Familiarity with Conditional Access, Zero Trust and workload identity protection
• PowerShell scripting skills
• Exposure to .NET and modern web application development environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 3,800 and EUR 6,300 per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
• the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements.
