Position: Senior Data Governance Consultant – Azure / Databricks

We are hiring on behalf of our client with a team of 400+ professionals, for a hands-on Senior Data Governance Consultant – Azure / Databricks to join its global Data Governance team.

Remote/Hybrid (one-day work from office, rest is remote)

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Consultant with 7–9 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, and cloud data platforms. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and/or Databricks Unity Catalog, along with expertise in data cataloguing, metadata management, data quality, classification, lineage, stewardship, and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.
• Implement and manage Microsoft Purview and/or Databricks Unity Catalog for data cataloguing, metadata, lineage, classification, and governance.
• Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, data domains, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
• Establish data ownership, stewardship, and governance RACI models.
• Define data quality rules, KPIs, monitoring, and remediation processes.
• Implement and maintain data lineage and impact analysis across enterprise data platforms.
• Support data classification, sensitivity, privacy, security, access governance, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to embed governance-by-design into data solutions.
• Conduct data governance assessments, identify gaps, and develop governance roadmaps and improvement plans.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, data owners/stewards, architects, engineering, security, and compliance teams.
• Prepare governance documentation, dashboards, reports, and executive-level recommendations.

Required Skills & Technologies:

• 7–9 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, or Data Architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and/or Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Strong understanding of Azure data platforms and cloud data governance.
• Experience with Data Cataloguing, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Classification, Data Quality, and Business Glossaries.
• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2)
• Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure Databricks
• Databricks Unity Catalog
• Azure SQL
• Power BI / Microsoft Fabric
• Strong knowledge of data security, privacy, access governance, and compliance.
• Strong stakeholder management, consulting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale data environments.

Preferred / Good to Have:

• Experience with alternative enterprise Data Governance/Data Catalog platforms such as Collibra, Informatica CDGC, Alation, or Atlan.
• Experience with AWS Lake Formation and multi-cloud data governance.
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK / CDMP or similar data governance frameworks.
• Microsoft Azure, Databricks, DAMA/CDMP, or related certifications.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or a related field.
