Role Synopsis:
The Intelligence & Optimisation Lead is responsible for enabling high‑quality category decision‑making and improving procurement effectiveness through actionable insights, analytics and recommendations. You will demonstrate advanced analytics to uncover trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support BP's global procurement initiatives by providing data-driven insights that align with business requirements, regulatory compliance and shifting market conditions.
Key Accountabilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for demonstrating internal and external data sources to create insights and finding opportunities to re-negotiate commercial or contractual terms, and presenting impact of changing market patterns towards category strategy. You will work cross-functionally within the Procurement organizations to bring actionable insights to the Category team.
- Conduct detailed analysis of demand, spend, and market patterns to identify trends and opportunities that are relevant to the category team.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for continuous improvement including improving supplier performance and reducing supply or contractual risk.
- Collaborate with category managers to translate insights into critical initiatives and monitor the impact of implemented strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide regular reports and updates on market conditions and their potential impact on procurement activities.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure insights are effectively integrated into procurement strategies.
- Establish self as the Category subject matter expert on procurement analytics and data science. Implement procedures and innovative approaches to enhance the effectiveness of analytics efforts.
Essential Education:
An undergraduate degree (ideally in procurement or business) or equivalent experience.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
- Minimum 6-8 years professional experience in Indirect Procurement or commercial analytics is required.
- Experience of working cross culturally and in an international environment.
- Ability to communicate and influence across different levels in the organisation.
- Engaging and collaborative way of working.
- Resilient and experienced in working in multi-faceted environment.

Makes effective decisions based on urgency and risk level. Makes effective decisions on relevant global issues related to own area of expertise.
- People Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and support a team within a cross-functional project environment, with a strong attention to detail and timelines.
Desirable criteria:
- Working knowledge of procurement process, and Road and rail, warehousing and packed logistics categories.
- Working towards or Membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).
- Familiarity with Ariba Source to Pay, Salesforce & Compass & also Digital Fluency thereby using various technologies & platforms to develop new ideas, projects and opportunities.
