Be part of Akamai ExAR, delivering threat-hunting and segmentation services. Develop backend features using Python, SQL, Airflow, and BigQuery. Collaborate with experienced engineers to transform security telemetry into insights and incidents for global customers. This position is ideal for early-career engineers with programming skills seeking to learn production data systems in a cloud-based environment.
In this role you will be:
- Developing backend services and data pipelines to collect, transform, and enrich security information.
- Researching and providing solutions/design to known feature requirements.
- Integrating APIs to support automated risk detection, incident creation, and customer reporting features.
- Investigating pipeline failures and data quality issues using system logs and diagnostic queries.
- Writing tests and documentation to continuously improve system reliability and query performance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate defined requirements into working software features.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a degree in computer science with hands-on programming experience through professional work.
- Understand core software engineering concepts including data structures and error handling.
- Be comfortable writing database queries and working with relational data structures.
- Have basic familiarity with version control, debugging, and software testing practices.
- Exhibit curiosity, clear communication, ask questions, and use feedback to improve work.
