Performance Engineering Architect

The Role:

As a Performance Engineering Architect, you will be the senior technical authority for performance engineering within the Nespresso Quality Engineering organization. You will define and evolve the performance engineering strategy, standards, architecture, and reusable practices that enable Product, Engineering, DevOps, Platform, and QE teams to build performant, scalable, resilient, and observable solutions. You will provide technical leadership to the Senior Performance Test Engineer and guide teams in adopting performance-by-design practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle. Working closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, Platform, and Architecture teams, you will establish performance engineering methodologies, workload modelling approaches, observability expectations, and performance validation strategies aligned with business-critical journeys and platform risks.

In This Role, You Will:

• Define and evolve performance engineering architecture, standards, methodologies, and reusable practices across Nespresso products and platforms.
• Establish performance validation approaches for load, stress, endurance, scalability, resilience, and performance regression scenarios.
• Support Product and Engineering teams in defining measurable non-functional requirements, workload models, and performance objectives.
• Enable performance-by-design and shift-left performance engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle.
• Define performance test architecture and drive integration of performance checks into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Establish observability and telemetry expectations, leveraging logs, traces, metrics, and APM insights to identify bottlenecks and support root cause analysis.
• Apply AI-powered capabilities to improve performance analysis, anomaly detection, capacity forecasting, regression detection, and productivity.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the Senior Performance Test Engineer while enabling Product, Engineering, DevOps, Platform, and QE teams through coaching, guidance, reusable assets, and Communities of Practice.

What We’re Looking For:

• 10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, Quality Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical domains.
• Proven experience defining and implementing performance engineering strategies, architectures, standards, and practices at scale.
• Strong experience with load, stress, endurance, scalability, resilience, and performance regression testing.
• Experience working with observability, telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, and APM platforms such as Grafana, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
• Experience integrating performance validation into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience defining workload models, performance baselines, non-functional requirements, and performance risk management approaches.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in bottleneck identification, root cause analysis, and capacity planning.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, DevOps, Platform, Architecture, and QE teams in complex environments.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, or coaching to performance engineering practitioners.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence through technical expertise.

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools for performance analysis, anomaly detection, diagnostics, capacity forecasting, or engineering productivity.
• Experience working within cloud-native, distributed systems, and microservices-based architectures.
• Experience operating in federated or product-led delivery and Quality Engineering models.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering techniques and responsible AI adoption practices within engineering organizations.
• Experience contributing to Communities of Practice, engineering standards, reusable assets, and organizational capability development.
