Analyst-procurement

The B30 Analyst, Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement, will play a key role in advancing American Express Global Supply Management priorities by managing end-to-end contracting needs for American Express’s US-based business units through sourcing and contracting engagements. This position will support enterprise value creation through disciplined sourcing execution, supplier strategy, contract drafting and negotiation, risk-aware decision making, and compliant third-party engagement. The role is suited for a procurement professional who can operate with ownership, influence cross-functional partners, and translate business requirements into measurable sourcing and contracting outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Sourcing

• Manage end-to-end contracting needs for American Express’s US-based business units by supporting SmartBuy engagements from intake and requirements review through approvals, negotiation, execution, and closeout.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements, align contracting approach with category and procurement guidance, and support compliant third-party engagement in line with the American Express Policy for Third Party Management (AEMP10).
• Conduct supplier, spend, and business requirement analysis to support commercial decision-making, value creation, cost optimization, and process improvements.
• Manage Third Party Lifecycle Management (TLM) requirements, ensuring supplier risk assessments, required approvals, and policy compliance are completed throughout the contracting lifecycle.

Contract Drafting & Negotiation

• Draft, review, negotiate, and execute Statements of Work (SOWs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and other commercial agreements in collaboration with GCO and other subject matter experts.
• Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers to achieve favourable business outcomes while mitigating legal and operational risks.
• Drive contracts to execution by coordinating approvals, resolving contractual issues, and ensuring timely completion of all contracting milestones.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary procurement and contracting partner for US-based business stakeholders, providing guidance through SmartBuy engagement intake, contracting milestones, approvals, and execution requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including GCO, TLM, Tax, Compliance, Insurance, Procurement Operations, and Category Managers, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide regular updates to business partners on sourcing progress, contracting milestones, risks, and key decisions.

Track and report sourcing outcomes, including savings, value creation, and procurement metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Law, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier contract management, or commercial contracting within a large organization.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including SOWs and MSAs.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business functions.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience working with supplier risk management and third-party governance processes is preferred.
