Senior editor (psc)

Wood is seeking a Senior Editor on a contract basis to join our Integrated Digital Operations team, primarily based in Aberdeen, supporting a diverse portfolio of global projects.

The role is preferably based at one of our UK hub offices; however, remote working may be considered for the right candidate.

The Role

The successful candidate will co-ordinate and contribute to the production of technical documentation in accordance with client requirements, agreed timescale, quality and budget.

The role will also include planning, co-ordination, tracking and reporting of work. Preferably, candidates will have knowledge of cost estimating for Editorial projects and an understanding of different levels of QC, although this is not essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produces new documents in accordance with contractual requirements
• Edits, updates and rewrites existing documents to fit agreed standards, style and format, including writing, rewriting and reformatting documents in Plain English or to Human Factors standards where required
• Ensures the quality of all documents produced under their jurisdiction
• Co-ordinates the work of other members of the Editorial and Publishing team as required and is responsible for the quality control and management of all work processes involved in the production of work allocated to them by the Editorial and Publishing Team Lead
• Prioritises their own workload and delegates tasks to others. Co-ordinates activities between clients and relevant in-house departments to ensure that any work under their jurisdiction is produced to the specified standard, agreed deliverables and budget
• Establishes clear file structures and manages electronic files, ensuring an auditable, electronic trail for all work undertaken
• Advises clients regarding appropriate templates, textual preferences, document control procedures and final deliverables
• Provides tracking and reporting progress and costs throughout the life of a project, including setting up project tools, for example tracking sheets, checklists etc
• Maintains job-specific and company records in an appropriate and timely manner

Expected:

• Higher (or equivalent) in English
• Previous experience in a similar editorial role
• Experience within the oil & gas sector or a similar industry
• Strong knowledge of online editing, documentation systems, and Microsoft Office
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong planning, coordination, and workload management abilities
• Experience in proofreading, editing, and producing technical documentation
• Familiarity with online document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Documentum)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
