Job Description

About AXA:

AXA is a global leader in insurance and financial services, dedicated to helping customers protect what matters most to them. As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.

AXA UK Support Functions look after our three customer-facing business units, providing the infrastructure and expertise to make sure we can be there for our customers.

Job overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Financial Crime Manager to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of AXA UK's Financial Crime Compliance Framework. This role provides expert guidance on sanctions compliance and other financial crime risks, working closely with various business units to ensure robust controls, regulatory adherence, and a strong culture of compliance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of AXA UK's Financial Crime Compliance Framework.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on sanctions regimes (UK, EU, UN, OFAC) and oversee sanctions screening controls.
  • Conduct financial crime and sanctions risk assessments, monitoring key risk indicators and control effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present reports, metrics, and insights for senior management and governance forums.
  • Support regulatory engagement, audits, and remediation activities related to financial crime matters.
  • Assist in delivering financial crime and sanctions training programmes to promote awareness.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the business, legal, risk, and compliance functions.
  • Monitor changes in sanctions and financial crime regulations, advising on necessary control adjustments.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) from December 2026. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Your skills & experience:

  • Strong experience in third-party, supplier, outsourcing, or operational risk management within financial services or similar regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of third-party business models, distribution, and associated operational risks.
  • Proven ability to process, analyse, and present data to support risk decision-making and action planning.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and facilitate discussions.
  • Experience in implementing or embedding risk frameworks, policies, and control standards across large organisations.
  • Knowledge of FCA/PRA requirements and expectations relating to third-party and conduct risks.
  • Delivery-focused, pragmatic, with a strong commercial outlook and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop teams and colleagues, fostering a risk-aware culture across diverse stakeholders.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
