What if you could shape a career as unique as you?

At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and chances to work with diverse, talented individuals who will help you expand your horizons.

A little more about your role…

We are looking for an Associate Director – Asset Management, Electricity Networks to join our growing Asset Management & Advisory team within Energy.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced asset management professional with a strong technical understanding of electricity transmission and distribution networks to help grow and develop our capability.

You will work with network owners, operators and other energy-sector clients to improve the performance, reliability, resilience and long-term value of their assets. The role combines technical understanding of electricity networks with asset management, data and digital capability, helping clients make better decisions across the asset lifecycle.

You will also play an important role in developing new services and solutions, bringing together expertise from across WSP in Asset Management, Transmission & Distribution, Power Systems and Digital.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead and deliver asset management and advisory assignments for transmission and distribution clients.
  • Provide advice across asset strategy, asset health, risk and criticality, lifecycle planning, maintenance and investment prioritisation.
  • Help clients use asset information, condition and performance data to improve investment and maintenance decisions.
  • Support the development of digital and data-led asset management solutions, including analytics, visualisation and emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new services and solutions addressing challenges such as ageing assets, resilience, asset intelligence and network optimisation.
  • Build strong client relationships and support business development, proposals and work-winning activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and assurance while supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Collaborate across WSP's wider Energy, T&D, Power Systems and Digital capabilities.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Asset Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience within electricity transmission and/or distribution, gained within a network owner/operator, consultancy or similar organisation.
  • Good technical understanding of electricity networks and associated assets.
  • Practical asset management experience, particularly in areas such as asset strategy, lifecycle planning, asset health, risk, maintenance or investment planning.
  • An understanding of asset data and digital technologies and how they can improve asset management decision-making.
  • Experience leading projects and working directly with clients.
  • Strong communication and commercial skills, with the ability to contribute to proposals and business development.
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, with an interest in developing new services and solutions.

Desirable experience and skills

  • Knowledge of ISO 55000/55001, asset health indices, risk-based investment planning, reliability and maintenance optimisation, SCADA, asset information systems or analytics would be advantageous.
  • Experience delivering RIIO/Ofgem-funded asset management or network investment initiatives.
  • Recognised industry profile through involvement with organisations such as IAM, CIGRE or CIRED working groups.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to help shape a growing capability within WSP Energy. You will work at the intersection of engineering, asset management and digital innovation, with the opportunity to influence how we develop our services for electricity network clients and bring together expertise from across WSP to solve complex asset challenges.

This remains closely aligned with the direction of WSP's existing Asset Management proposition, which combines strategic and technical expertise with digital capability across the asset lifecycle. It also fits the T&D strategy's emphasis on increasing use of technology, data and digitalisation within electricity networks.
