Applications software support engineer

Job Description:

Preston | 5 days onsite initially (reducing to a minimum of 3 days)

Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.

Join our Applications Software Support Team and play a key role in supporting business-critical applications. You'll investigate and resolve software incidents, work closely with customers and development teams, and help deliver continuous improvements to application performance and service quality.

What you'll do:

• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve application incidents.
• Work with customers, support teams and developers to identify and fix issues.
• Support the maintenance of critical software applications.
• Contribute to service improvements and application support initiatives.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.

What we're looking for:

• 4+ years' experience in application support, software support or a similar technical role.
• Strong incident management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and support practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Desirable:

• Relevant certifications or advanced qualifications.
• Experience within secure or highly regulated environments.
