Job Description

ABOUT FTSE Russell, a division of LSEG

FTSE Russell is a global index leader that provides innovative benchmarking, analytics and data solutions for investors worldwide. FTSE Russell calculates thousands of indexes that measure and benchmark markets and asset classes in more than 70 countries, covering 98% of the investable market globally.

FTSE Russell index expertise and products are used extensively by institutional and retail investors globally. Approximately $17.9 trillion is currently benchmarked to FTSE Russell indexes. For over 30 years, leading asset owners, asset managers, ETF providers and investment banks have chosen FTSE Russell indexes to benchmark their investment performance and create ETFs, structured products and index-based derivatives.

ROLE PROFILE

FTSE Russell is seeking Sales Specialist with 5+ years of experience to develop its business across the DACH and Central & Eastern European markets.

Based in Germany, the successful candidate will take ownership of identifying, developing and converting growth opportunities across FTSE Russell’s asset-based and data businesses. The position will cover multiple client segments, including asset managers, asset owners, banks, wealth managers, ETF issuers, insurers, investment consultants, trading firms, platforms and other financial-market participants.

This is an individual-contributor role requiring strong financial-markets experience, an established record of business development and the ability to create opportunities in markets where FTSE Russell’s client relationships and product penetration can be expanded.

The individual will be working alongside several sales colleagues covering the same region and will be able to leverage their experience. The team is newly created (for this region) and this is therefore an opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial outfit within a large and established firm.

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Head of Continental Europe + MEA Sales (FTSE Russell), the Sales Specialist will:

  • Work alongside our colleagues to develop and execute the sales and business-development strategy for DACH and CEE.
  • Participate to mapping and prioritising the regional opportunity across asset managers, asset owners, banks, insurers, wealth managers, ETF issuers, consultants, platforms and other financial institutions.
  • Originate, develop and close new asset-based and data opportunities.
  • Build a strong pipeline through targeted prospecting, new-client acquisition and expansion into new buyer groups within existing accounts.
  • Understand client investment strategies, product plans and data workflows, translating these into relevant FTSE Russell solutions.
  • Coordinate Product, Research, Index Investments, Legal, Finance, Marketing and other internal stakeholders around strategic opportunities.
  • Monitor regional market developments, competitor activity and evolving client requirements.
  • Maintain disciplined opportunity management, forecasting and CRM records.
  • Represent FTSE Russell at relevant client events, industry conferences and market forums.
  • Collaborate across the wider EMEA sales team and contribute regional insight to commercial and product strategy.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Experience in institutional sales, business development or client relationship management within financial services.
  • A good track record of originating, developing and closing commercial opportunities.
  • Experience gained within an index or data provider, asset manager, bank, ETF business, investment consultancy or comparable organisation.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products and institutional client workflows.
  • Experience developing a territory or business line.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a consultative, solution-oriented approach.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive and comfortable developing an underpenetrated market.
  • Able to prioritise and manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced, international environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken German and English.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across DACH and CEE.

Preferred experience

  • Knowledge of indices, benchmarks, ETFs, passive investment or systematic investment strategies.
  • Experience with asset-based licensing or subscription-based data solutions.
  • Understanding of index-linked funds, institutional mandates, structured products or derivatives.
  • Good relationships across the DACH or CEE institutional investment markets.
