At Telespazio Germany, we believe that artificial intelligence (AI) is a future cornerstone of modern spacecraft operations. Join us in supporting our key customer, ESOC, on their journey to enhance spacecraft operations efficiency by integrating AI applications into their workflows, e.g. for automation of decision-making assistance. We are seeking a skilled AI Engineer with experience in the space industry.

Responsibilities/Duties

As an AI Engineer for Spacecraft Operations at Telespazio Germany, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and driving the transfer-to-operation of cutting-edge AI solutions for our customer, ESA (ESOC). Your role will bridge the gap between application development and spacecraft operations, collaborating closely with our talented software developers and spacecraft operators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop AI solutions to be deployed in the domain of spacecraft operations.
• Liaise and collaborate with spacecraft operators to understand their needs, create user stories, and facilitate technology adoption.
• Lead the transition of developed solutions to their operational use.
• Drive to the company's AI strategy in coordination with fellow AI engineers.

Qualifications/Experience

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

• A University degree/PhD in Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience working within the Space Industry;
• Familiarity with AI software development tools and methodologies, including MLOps and DevOps.
• Proficiency in coding and scripting languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
• Experience with CI/CD and containerization tools such as Git, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar;
• Comfortable working in a client-facing role.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.
• Proficiency in English, both in speech and writing.

Desirable Skills

In addition to the essential skills, we value candidates with:

• Proficiency in data management infrastructure, optimally for satellite ground segments.
• A broad understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts and their practical application (e.g. LLMs or Anomaly Detection).
