As part of our R&D Medical Service Delivery organization, we are looking for a highly skilled and people-focused leader to oversee financial controlling activities supporting our Specialty Care (SPC) and General Medicines (GenMed) Medical organizations.

This role will manage operational controlling activities for a €1B Medical budget portfolio, including approximately €200M of clinical study investments, while leading a global team of specialized controllers. The position serves as a strategic business partner to Medical Finance leadership, ensuring robust financial governance, accurate forecasting, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across a complex international environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead financial controlling activities for a €1B Medical budget portfolio across SPC and GenMed.
• Ensure accurate monthly closing activities, including accruals, journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
• Oversee the integrity of the Medical P&L structure and ensure accurate cost allocations and accrual reversals.
• Coordinate forecasting and budget planning cycles, including headcount planning and C1 submissions.
• Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to enable strategic decision-making.
• Support the implementation and optimization of OneCasa and other financial systems.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Medical Controllers operating across multiple global hubs.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Establish clear objectives, performance expectations, and development plans.
• Build strong controlling capabilities and subject matter expertise within the team.
• Act as the primary finance partner for Medical leadership teams.
• Collaborate closely with Finance Business Partners, Global Medical teams, and operational stakeholders.
• Translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights.
• Drive alignment between regional operations and global finance strategies.
• Ensure compliance with Sanofi's Core Model and financial governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate controlling activities.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, service quality, and operational effectiveness.
• Monitor performance metrics and ensure service delivery excellence.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure readiness for compliance reviews.
• Partner with Internal Control teams to maintain a strong control environment.

About You

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A, finance business partnering, or related roles.
• Previous people leadership experience managing teams in a matrix or global environment.
• Experience within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or R&D environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, month-end closing, and financial reporting processes.
• Experience supporting R&D, Medical, or Clinical Operations organizations is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Advanced financial controlling and performance management expertise.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis capabilities.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial planning tools.
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate financial performance metrics and KPIs.
• Knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit requirements.
• Experience driving process improvement and transformation initiatives.
