Giotto.ai is a Swiss AI research lab, founded in 2017 by EPFL mathematicians. We build sovereign AI: efficient reasoning models and an operating system that make advanced AI run on infrastructure you choose. Efficiency makes portability possible; portability makes sovereignty real.
Our models are a growing family, from compact models that run on a single GPU to flagship models for demanding enterprise workloads. Run Giotto in our European public cloud, in a dedicated cloud in Swiss or EU data centres, or fully on-premise, from a single-GPU workstation to multi-GPU servers. GDPR-aligned and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified.
We are looking for a strong Machine Learning Engineer to help design, build, and deploy advanced AI systems focused on reasoning and scalable inference. You will work on large-scale machine learning systems, distributed training pipelines, and next-generation architectures for reasoning models, collaborating closely with our research and engineering teams. Depending on your experience and interests, the role may include leading a feature squad or project team. We equally value strong senior individual contributors.
Mid-senior or senior Machine Learning Engineer with at least three years of experience in NLP or machine learning. Strong programming skills in Python and hands-on experience with PyTorch. Experience building or deploying machine learning systems in production. Familiarity with LLMs and transformer architectures. Experience with distributed training or inference systems. Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment that brings together research and production engineering.
CUDA programming and GPU kernel optimisation experience. Experience leading technical projects or engineering teams. A PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, or another quantitative scientific discipline. Experience at a leading technology company, such as a FAANG company or equivalent. A medal in a prestigious mathematics, informatics, or science Olympiad, such as IMO, IOI, IPhO, or an equivalent national or international competition. Five or more years of experience developing NLP or machine learning applications.
We offer full-time employment in Switzerland, as well as contractor arrangements. Our hybrid model supports remote work, with the team gathering in our Swiss office for one week per month. Exceptional candidates based elsewhere in Europe may also be considered for employment where feasible, if preferred over a contractor arrangement.
