This role manages Bills of Materials (BOMs), develops sourcing strategies, identifies and qualifies suppliers, obtains quotations, and creates purchase requisitions to support complex aerospace and defense programs.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) and develop sourcing strategies that align with program requirements, lead times, and budget constraints.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on technical specifications, program needs, and supply chain risks.
  • Source, qualify, and engage new suppliers to support current and future program requirements.
  • Solicit, analyze, and compare supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing, availability, and commercial viability.
  • Negotiate pricing and support cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and on-time delivery performance.
  • Review inventory levels and existing stock availability before initiating new procurement activities.
  • Create and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) based on approved supplier quotations and sourcing decisions.
  • Monitor sourcing and procurement activities and provide regular updates to Engineering, Program Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical questions and clarify product requirements.
  • Support the resolution of BOM, supplier, and material-related issues throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Participate in proposal and bid activities by identifying suppliers, obtaining budgetary pricing, and supporting cost estimates.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support program execution and future business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to sourcing, procurement, supplier performance, and material management processes.
  • Assess and coordinate procurement impacts resulting from Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring material requirements remain aligned with revised designs and program schedules.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, or Operations within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other complex product environments.
  • Proven experience managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), supplier sourcing, quotations, and procurement activities.
  • Experience working with ERP systems in a supply chain management context.
  • Experience in buyer or purchasing roles, including inventory management.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with complex aerospace, defense, naval, or manufacturing programs.
  • Knowledge of supplier qualification and strategic sourcing processes.
  • Experience supporting proposal and bid activities.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and configuration-controlled environments.
  • Ability to work closely with engineering specialists to define technical specifications for sourced products.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, long-term program environment.

Work Environment

You will join a team of approximately nine supply chain and related professionals in an environment focused on long-term defense and aerospace programs, including naval, nuclear, and space segments. The role offers a hybrid work schedule with three days per week on site and flexible scheduling within a 40-hour work week. Core hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing flexibility at the start and end of the day. You will work daily with ERP systems and supply chain management tools, in close collaboration with Engineering, Planning, and Program Management teams. An on-the-job training period of approximately three months is planned to help you become familiar with internal processes, systems, and the complexity of the programs.
