What we´re looking for:

We´re looking for an Environmental Scientist/Geoscientist to join our team of hydrogeologists, geochemists, environmental scientists, and environmental engineers in our Waterloo, Ontario office.

This position is ideal for an early-career professional who enjoys combining field work, data analysis, scientific interpretation, and technical reporting. Our team works on projects ranging from geochemical evaluations and fate and transport assessments to complex remediation programs involving LNAPL, dissolved contaminants, natural attenuation, conceptual site models, and regulatory closure strategies.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team of hydrogeologists, geochemists, environmental scientists, and engineers to support a wide range of projects involving groundwater, contaminated sites, petroleum releases, hydrogeological assessments, environmental monitoring, and remediation programs.
• Compile, manage, quality check, and interpret environmental data.
• Preparation of project related technical documents including figures, tables, hydrographs, maps, cross-sections, work plans, cost estimates, and reports for senior review.
• Some local field work associated with environmental investigations and remediation activities will be required, and may include site investigations, drilling, soil sampling, well installation, and groundwater sampling.
• Coordination and scheduling of project related work, including working with other GHD staff, external contractors, and public entities (i.e. obtain permits)
• Contribute to the development and coordination of field notes, mark-up drawings, cost estimates, and reporting.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of studies, conceptual designs, permitting and approvals.
• Support preparation of proposals and strategic business development activities with other team members.

What you will bring to the Team:

• Relevant undergraduate degree (Environmental B.Sc., Geoscience B.Sc.). Graduate MSc. degree in a relevant field.
• 0-2 years of experience in the environmental field.
• Interest and capacity to solve problems and puzzles of a scientific nature.
• Willingness to travel to undertake meetings, site visits, and some field work is required (field demands can include working long hours, working in inclement weather conditions, and working in remote locations).
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
• Flexible with project types and responsibilities
• Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills – ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, regulatory authorities, and the general public.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and be highly communicative
• Candidate must be eligible for TN Work Visa to support work in the US, where required
• Experience with data analysis and statistical evaluations would be an asset.
• Valid driver's license (an MVR check will be performed prior to hire)
• Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.

Salary:  Waterloo: $62.000.- Salary Range is based on the preferred work location. If the selected candidate´s location differs, changes to the salary range may apply.
