What is the Opportunity?

The Hamilton LRT Alliance has been selected by Metrolinx as the development partner for the Hamilton LRT – Package 1: Civil & Utilities. Under the alliance model, Aecon provides construction capability and resources as part of an integrated team, working collaboratively with all alliance participants to progress design, cost, and construction schedules during the project’s development phase.

What You'll Do Here:

• Provide support on day-to-day HR tasks, programs and initiatives, including, resource planning, talent management and employee relations.
• Responsible for project reporting, org charts, HR related project trackers, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Act as liaison between HR, new hire and managers regarding onboarding information.
• Support with submission of project hires, onboarding new employees, collecting all new hire paperwork, submission of IT needs, access to software and hardware, and follow up to ensure all needs are in place prior to the employee start date.
• Schedule, coordinate and conduct orientations for new hires on the project. Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and leaders regarding HR policies, procedures, and general inquiries.
• Provide administrative support to ensure HR resources are maintained, and confidentially of HR client group is upheld.
• Support managers and employees with performance management and objective setting throughout the year.
• Respond to and resolve employee questions or escalate to Manager, maintaining a strong focus on creating a positive employee experience.
• Support the leave of absence process by addressing all employee questions and coordinating with all stakeholders (i.e. project managers and operational HR).
• Maintaining employee details within our HRIS for the project (ie. BIS Learning) and reporting requirements.
• Generate new and ad hoc HRIS reports as needed for the project HR department.
• Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Post‑secondary education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• CHRP designation or working toward it is considered an asset.
• One to three (1–3) years of progressive experience in HR coordination or a related HR support function.
• Strong knowledge of HR procedures, employment standards, and HR best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• High attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Critical thinking skills to solve problems and make routine recommendations.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Visio is an asset.
• Experience with Power BI is an asset.

This role follows a hybrid work model, combining in‑office collaboration and flexibility, with an expectation of four days per week in the office.

Reason for vacancy: New

The expected salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000 per year.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
