Our client is a US digital marketing agency operating on Pacific Time, producing SEO content for professional-services businesses — law firms in particular, along with construction companies, HR consultancies and established small businesses. They have already solved the part most agencies are still arguing about: their content is drafted in Copy.ai, from outlines built on real keyword research, and then a human being makes it publishable. That human is who they are hiring.
This is a writing role, and only a writing role. You build the SEO content outline, you write the prompts that produce the first draft, and then you do the work that actually determines whether the piece is any good: you copy edit it until it is accurate, sourced, on-voice and ready to publish. There is no WordPress in this job. No Elementor, no posting, no QA queue. Your responsibility ends at approved, publication-ready content, and a teammate takes it from there.
We want to be straight about where the difficulty sits, because it is not where people expect. Directing Copy.ai well takes judgment, but it is learnable in a fortnight. What separates a strong candidate here is the edit. AI drafts arrive fluent and confident and quietly wrong: statistics that no source supports, citations to organisations that do not exist, a competitor's firm dropped in as a helpful example, the target keyword worked in fourteen times, a call to action that could belong to anyone, and — in legal content — a sentence that promises an outcome no lawyer would sign off on. Catching all of that, every time, under a 72-hour turnaround, is the job. If your instinct on reading a smooth paragraph is to ask "can I verify this?", you will do well here.
You work inside a structured team: an SEO Specialist researches and clears topics with the client quarterly and loads keywords, sections and FAQs into ClickUp; you build the outline, draft and edit; the Project Manager and SEO Lead coordinate priorities and the content calendar. Twenty-five hours a week, fully remote, largely asynchronous.
Knowing the whole pipeline makes it clear where your work starts and stops.
The SEO Specialist researches topics, gets them approved by the client each quarter, then adds supporting keywords, sections to cover and FAQs to the ClickUp task.
You build the SEO content outline in Semrush from that approved topic and keyword set, and format it into the client's content outline document.
You draft the piece using Copy.ai, writing prompts built from the outline to produce an SEO-optimized first draft. Typical turnaround is approximately 72 hours per piece.
You copy edit the draft—links, sourcing, keyword usage, CTAs, competitor mentions, readability. Typical turnaround is approximately 72 hours.
The draft goes to the client for approval, and you handle any revisions requested.
2+ years producing SEO-optimized blog and web content in English, with a portfolio of published work.
Hands-on experience directing an AI writing platform — Copy.ai, Jasper, Writer, ChatGPT or similar — as a working part of a paid content workflow, writing your own prompts.
Demonstrated copy editing ability on AI-generated drafts, including verifying sources, checking that links resolve and support the claim, and cutting anything unverifiable.
Solid grasp of SEO fundamentals: keyword usage and placement, content structure, headings, internal linking and on-page best practices.
Native-level written English, with clean grammar and controlled tone for a US audience.
Experience building content outlines from keyword research, in Semrush or an equivalent platform.
Reliable with deadlines inside a defined turnaround window, and proactive in communicating when something is at risk.
Comfortable working asynchronously in a task-managed workflow, keeping your own tasks current without prompting.
Reliable internet, a working computer, and a quiet place to write.
